Norton Priory Visit

Class: Year 4 & Year 5 (Mrs Moss) Year: 2018 - 2019

Mrs Moss' class visited Norton Priory recently along with Gill and Rebecca.  As we have been studying minibeasts in class, we wanted to find them in the wild, in ponds and gardens.  The first task of the day was pond dipping. Paul our guide told us that there were some fish in the pond but he would be very surprised if we caught one.  Unfortunately, we didn't but we found lots of  tadpoles, pond skaters, pond snails, water fleas and lots more. We even found a dragon fly nymph!  After lunch the children had a look around the walled gardens and in one part of the garden they found several scarecrows.    In the afternoon our task was to find mini beasts in the gardens using a large net to catch them.  We found lots and lots of ladybirds, butterflies and caterpillars.  One of the children found a caterpillar that Paul had never seen before which was very exciting for him and for us!
